National Diversity Week was founded in 1998 in order to raise awareness of the diversity that has shaped – and continues to shape – the United States. Officially, National Diversity Week falls in the full first week of October and is celebrated on a citywide or companywide scale across the country, though some organizations observe it at other times of the year.
National Diversity Week was founded more than a decade ago but online information with resources to observe it has been limited. As the founder of the National Diversity Council, I felt compelled to facilitate a gathering place for anyone seeking to gain information or add to the store of ideas regarding National Diversity Week.
National Diversity Week is undergoing changes to establish itself as an event that impacts every level of our society. My goal is to make it a publically recognized commemoration of the vast contributions made to our society by diverse people from all walks of life. This website is the launching point to bring National Diversity Week to new heights, making it a widespread celebration of our diversity in all of its dimensions.
I invite you to be part of this goal to bring National Diversity Week into every realm of our society as a time for celebrating how far we have come and anticipating how much further we will go.
Cordially,
Dennis Kennedy
